Attendance Expectations -
This week we will send out emails to each specific age group identifying the players who are required to attend the evaluations.
It is important that players attend only their designated time slot to ensure a smooth process.
We cannot accommodate players outside their assigned age group times, so please only attend the assigned time for your age group. We will have the kids who need to be evaluated preloaded into our evaluation software, so adding additional kids slows down the process and inhibits us from doing what we need efficiently.
Please also note there are no alternate or make up dates for the evaluations. If you are unable to attend, your player will be randomly placed on a team for the season based on information received from your players registration.
Before evaluations begin, we will verify that all players required to attend have paid the required evaluation fee. For those who have not paid the evaluation fee, it will be automatically charged to your Raptors account prior to the event.
What to Expect -
- Arrival: Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your assigned evaluation time. The registration table will be at the bottom of the stairs, in between the small and large fields. During check in, your player will be given a identifier name sticker that they need to place on their shirt and they will be checked into our evaluation software. Once they are checked in they can head into the large field and find another boy to warm up with. Players, Parents and Siblings are not to go into the evaluation area prior to getting checked in.
- Equipment needs: Players need to bring their own batting helmet, bat, and glove (all preferably labeled with their name). Players should arrive in baseball attire (hat, shirt, sweatpants or baseball pants) and athletics shoes (no cleats) are encouraged footwear as the facility has a turf surfaces.
- Evaluation Criteria: Players will be ran through five skill stations. Stations will include soft toss hitting, pitching, groundballs, flyballs and baserunning.
Parent Expectations and Logistics -
- Drop Off: Evaluations are a closed event. After assisting with registration, we kindly ask parents to either exit the premises or return to the upstairs observation area to maintain a focused environment.
- No Coaching from the Stands: To avoid distracting the players and allow the evaluators to do their job, parents are kindly requested to refrain from yelling or giving instructions during the evaluation process. If this is witnessed, that parent will be asked to leave the premises.
- Encouragement: The best thing you can do is encourage your child, assure them they will make a team regardless of performance, and remind them to have fun.
- Pick Up: Evaluations usually take 75 to 90 minutes. So please be available to return to the facility to pick your player up at the 75 minute mark. Please do not enter the evaluation areas during pick up and also be cognizant that the next evaluation will be starting just a few minutes later, so make sure the registration area remains clear as well.
Coaches and the Baseball Executive Board will evaluate players in hitting, throwing, infield skills, outfield skills, and baserunning. We should have local CVHS and DCHS baseball players helping run each of our stations.
All Waitlisted players should still attend evaluations for the opportunity to join a team if spots open up.
