MVP Challenger Game

In fall 2014, Meagan Lang - Former Director of Baseball became inspired by her best friend and branched out the idea of wanting to encompass all athletes within our community and offering a baseball game to physically and cognitively challenged athletes. With inspiration and just getting the baseball organization back on solid foundation, the motivation came from her sister Jody. 

A young athlete herself staying active in high school playing basketball, and later on swimming for Special Olympics. In March 2015, the first challenger game was held and this has now become an annual event that is part of the foundation within our baseball program. Sadly in 2020, the event was postponed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

From all over the Castle Rock community and within the AYL family, we have challenged athletes who play in a 3 inning modified baseball game with the help and support of a Raptors baseball buddy. These athletes ages 5 - 18 are given an AYL World Series atmosphere and through community sponsors and volunteers everything is donated from jerseys to trophies and even pizza afterwards. In a highly competitive youth sports world, these athletes give each of us back the love for the game and bring us in the community even more together. 

Our next MVP Challenger Game will be held in June 2024.  Registrations for this game (including buddy volunteers) will open May 2024.
